If by chance you were looking for a story of genuine and pure wine, full of authentic values and true love for wine, surely you should come across the story of Giovanni Ascione, aka Nanni Copè. Born as a professional and taster admired for his integrity and for a natural talent equal to the few, after having told for a decade the wines of Sicily, Sardinia and Tuscany for Bibenda, and having traveled half the world following a passion born in France when he was twenty, decides to start making wine. He founded the Nanni Copè winery in 2007, producing only a label, Sabbie di Sopra il Bosco; and he doesn't even think about expanding the range, "I can't even imagine another label, it's this and that's it," he says peremptorily to anyone who asks him. At its second release, the Sabbie di Sopra il Bosco project, strongly desired by Giovanni, a man of combative and generous nature, is confirmed once again with the excellence obtained by all the Italian guides, a sign that passion, professionalism, sensitivity and rigor, gifts and values that have characterized his journey as a wine narrator from all over the world, have been of important and saving support for this incredible task of winemaker. "A life, many lives" is the motto of the company, also reported on labels and packaging, which symbolizes the many evolutions suffered by its existence in its 46 years of life. The phrase accompanies the brand, and the name represents another reference to a past that is really dear to him: the time in which he loved to be called with his mother's last name, Cioppa. Talent and genius have made possible the realization of his project, which came to life in the scenery of Castel Campagnano, a small village in the upper Caserta overlooking the Volturno river at 215 meters above sea level, where the vineyards on steep slopes alternate with spots woodland not far from the sea and the soils are characterized by a marked sandiness. All this makes Sabbie di Sopra il Bosco a unique wine of rare elegance and refinement, with a crystalline character and an incredibly fascinating taste.
