Company The Les Crêtes winery was founded in 1989 in Aymavilles (Valle d'Aosta), by Costantino Charrère and is now managed by his family, owner of a historic water mill from the 1700s and the ancient cellars of Via Moulins, has been dealing with agri-food products for five generations. The cultivation area of ​​the vineyards extends for 25 hectares along the orographic axis of the Dora Baltea in the municipalities of Saint Pierre, Aymavilles, Gressan, Sarre, Aosta and Saint Christophe. The production area, which originates in the difficult mountain area, is characterized by a high fragmentation of the vineyards and high plant densities (8,000-9,000 feet / Ha) due to the slopes of the land, whose morainic and sandy soils constitute ideal environment for the cultivation of many native and international varieties. The alpine climate strongly influences the organoleptic characteristics of local wines: the grapes, harvested late, undergo strong changes in temperature due to the autumnal temperature range (day / night + 22 ° C / 0 ° C); this phenomenon, typical of mountain areas, favors the formation of aromatic precursors in the bunch, which considerably enrich the aromatic component of the wines. The agronomic management of the vineyards, based on respect for the environment, and the enhancement of the "terroir", are focal points of a company philosophy that combines traditional cultivation techniques with a passion for innovation and technological research. The phytosanitary treatments, in line with the European programs of the sector, foresee a limited use of pesticides. The total annual production is 170,000 bottles. The largest section of vineyards develops in the "Les Crêtes" area of ​​Aymavilles, where the panoramic Côteau la Tour hill offers its medieval tower, inhabited until the last century by a hermit in the village, today the company's symbol. It is clearly visible to the left of the Aosta west tollbooth exit, arriving from Turin. The cultivated varieties are both native (Petit Rouge, Fumin, Petite Arvine, Gros Rouge, Cornalin, Mayolet, Prëmetta) and international (Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Syrah). The company's productive "tension" is directed towards the entire production chain, where interventions are carried out with the utmost attention and care, in the continuous search for quality. The winery is equipped with a tasting room and ample parking and is located on a panoramic site, 1 km from the Aosta Ovest motorway exit for the Mont Blanc Tunnel. Philosophy The company Les Crêtes produces its wines in a very particular context, characterized by high mountains, sandy slopes and alpine temperatures.
