Poggio al Tesoro
HISTORY AND COMPANY
Poggio Al Tesoro is the name of the Bolgheri wine cellar of Allegrini, a true sacred monster of Valpolicella. It is a young Tuscan winery born from the desire of Allegrini to get back into discussion and compete with one of the most prestigious and fascinating Italian wine areas. Today it is led by Marilisa and Franco Allegrini, who make use of the young and brilliant Venetian winemaker Lorenzo Fortini. Poggio al Tesoro includes more than 60 hectares of vines divided into four plots: two just above the Bolgherese road, on clayey and stone-rich soils; one in Sondraie, where the soils are silty and rich in sand; another in the municipality of Bibbona. These plots have been chosen with great care and the vines have been planted with an impressive density: 9000 plants per hectare! The vocation of the land, the warm sun of Tuscany and the nearby presence of the sea contribute to the quality, typicality and territoriality of the wines produced. The wines of Poggio al Tesoro have established themselves as a new benchmark in Bolgheri. These are elegant and expressive expressions of one of the most prestigious areas of production in Tuscany. International vines such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon found here one of its preferred areas and express themselves in labels of absolute value, thanks also to the wisdom and professionalism of the Allegrini family.
