The company and the Terroir
The Company D'Angelo represents in Basilicata the history of the Aglianico del Vulture. The winery was founded around the 1930s, founded by Rocco D'Angelo, grandfather of the current owners Erminia and Rocco, sons of Lucio D'Angelo. The initial activity was to export to the North of Italy the fresh Aglianico grapes that were vinified used to "cut" wines with little body and poor color. In 1971, with the attribution of the D.O.C. (denomination of controlled origin), things have changed a little since the Aglianico del Vulture began to be marketed with its own identity and history. The Azienda D'Angelo is situated in the heart of the production area of the Aglianico del Vulture between Rionero, Barile, Rapolla and Ripacandida. It has more than 40 hectares of vineyards, produces around 400,000 bottles of different types and has two cellars: one for processing and one for aging in barrels and barriques.
