Castello di Albola

Castello di Albola

HISTORY

The Castello di Albola is located on the beautiful hills surrounding Radda in Chianti, one of the nine towns where the Chianti Classico production terroir is shared. It is a winery with very ancient roots, which, over the centuries, has been owned by some of the most important Tuscan families, from the Acciaiuoli to the Samminiati, arriving, in 1940, to be available to Prince Giovanni Ginori Conti. Today the lands of Castello di Albola expand for about 900 hectares, of which 150 are planted with vines, while a part is dedicated to the production of oil, with over 4000 olive trees. In the vineyards, located at a height between 350 and 580 meters above sea level, the subsoil is characterized by the presence of two different geological forms, one dominated by Alberese, the other by Galestro. Among the rows, the main grape is obviously the Sangiovese, flanked by cabernet sauvignon, canaiolo, chardonnay and malvasia. All these varieties are cultivated with the spurred cordon and guyot system, and in the vineyard the agronomic experimentation is continuous, in a path that also sees the Ministry of Agricultural Resources and the Chianti Classico Consortium alongside the Castle.Every year different labels come out from the cellar walls, from "Il Solatio", Chianti Classico Gran Selezione, to "Acciaiolo", a red blend with an international flavor, reaching as far as the Chianti Riserva and Vin Santo, a real gem of a territory devoted to high quality.
