Who we are

Cantine Monfort was established in 1945 by Giovanni Simoni, with his grandson Lorenzo now running the winery. The winery is based in Lavis, a picturesque village north of Trento, which has been at the centre of Trentino wine production for many generations. The cellar is situated in Palazzo Monfort, once residence to the Counts de Melchiori, and now a prime site within Lavis old town. Our wines are developed under the watchful eye of expert oenologists and produced from high quality Trentino grapes.

The grapes destined for Cantine Monfort wines come from the best vineyard locations within Val di Cembra and from the hills over Lavis and Trento. These grapes belong either to Cantine Monfort or to grape growers who have been carefully selected for their high quality product. Cantine Monfort's expert winemakers rigorously follow each contracted grower through every stage of cultivation.

The expertise, love and care that  they show in their winemaking have earned Cantine Monfortmany accolades from specialist Italian and German magazines as well as many international awards. To name a few, the "Marchio della Confraternita" in Trento, the "Concorso Internazionale all'Expo" in Milan, the "Concorso Enologico Internazionale Vinitaly", the "Wine Master Challenge " of Estoril in Portugal and the "International Wine Challenge" of London. Today the winery, well represented both on the national and foreign markets, is expanding rapidly and after the acquisition of new vineyards, looks to the future with a self confidence derived from a daily renewed passion for their wine and the land.

From Vineyard To Bottle

UvaThe wine of Cantine Monfort comes from the best exposed vineyards within the Cembra Valley and from the hills surrounding Lavis, Trento, Mezzocorona, Volano and Isera. Our wines are made following the traditional systems of Trento eonology, which is able to boast centuries of history.
All stages of the winemaking process are followed by the experts of Cantine Monfort. The vintage is particularly selective, the grapes are carefully picked and placed in small cases and taken to "Cantine Monfort" at once, where the delicate process of transformation begins.

Wine-making

The grapes are softly squeezed in order to avoid laceration to the skin and flesh, which gives a delicate quality to the wine.
Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel containers at controlled temperatures. Refining and ageing take place in air conditioned cellars. For some products fermentation and refining are carried out in oak casks.

Bottling

The very last phase, the bottling, is carried out with the use of modern technology, being careful at all times however to ensure that the characteristics of the wine itself remain intact. Particular care has also been dedicated to the packaging. The use of dark glass bottles protects the wine from the negative effects of light, and moreover, care has been taken to make sure that the label and packaging designs match the personality and the original nature of the products.
