The small town of Monforte d'Alba, with its medieval center structured around the castle owned by the Marquises Scarampi, is the backdrop to some of the vineyards that have made Piedmont famous in the world. Monforte is in fact one of the eleven municipalities in which the legal specification allows the production of Barolo, and it is here that a new and ancient wine-making reality is located at the same time: it is the agricultural company Diego Conterno, a surname that, for all lovers of the great Piedmontese reds will not sound new. The Conterno family has been cultivating the vine in these areas for several generations: Diego, together with his cousin Claudio and Guido Fantino, founded the Conterno-Fantino company in 1982, an excellent brand known throughout the world for the production of Barolo . Between the end of the nineties and the beginning of the new millennium Diego decided however to continue on his own, seeking new stimuli, giving life to his own winemaking reality in line with his production philosophy: this is how the cellar of Diego Conterno, since 2009 supported in his daily work by his son Stefano. On an area of about 7 hectares the most representative vines of the Piedmontese terroir are cultivated with passion and love: nascetta, nebbiolo, dolcetto and barbera. Next to a line dedicated to the most everyday wines such as Langhe Nascetta or Barbera d'Alba, there are also three different expressions of Barolo, among which the "Le Coste" and the "Ginestra", coming from two crus where they emerge the quality is expressed at very high levels. The range of bottles is completed by an elegant Barolo Chinato, an aromatic wine with which Diego really wants to pamper his admirers. A total of nine wines produced, of profound beauty, balanced and precise, whose fame has by now won the favor of the most important international critics.
