This story begins in Pirque, in the Maipo valley, 20 km from Santiago de Chile, on the estate where Don Melchor de Concha y Toro moved with his wife Emiliana in 1875. Don Melchor, Marquis of the house Concha, is a lawyer , but his passion is finance and business. In 1864 he entered politics in the ranks of the conservative party and 5 years later he became Minister of Finance. He will be re-elected as a deputy until 1886, when he will become a senator, a post from which he will resign in 1891, during the Chilean civil war. But this is another story. Instead, our story begins in 1883, when Don Melchor decided to plant cabernet-sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, sémillon, merlot and carmenère from Bordeaux in his vineyards and entrusted it to the French oenologist Labouchère.
