Franco Biondi Santi, winemaker, learned from his father the subtle art of winemaking and continued to lead the Tenuta Greppo with an incomparable collection of Riserva bottles. But not for this he rested on his father's laurels. Meanwhile, D.O.C. he had pushed other producers to plant vines and improve techniques in the hope of being able to exploit the high image of Brunello. In the presence of such a scenario, which saw an exponential growth of hectares inscribed in Brunello (from 76 hectares in 1967 to the current 2100 in 2009), Franco Biondi Santi increased the production of Brunello del Greppo from 4 hectares, on the death of his father, at the present day 25. He continued the strict agronomic and traditional winery practices to consolidate the typicality and improve the quality of Brunello del Greppo certainly to match (given the same use of land and vines) the great Centennial Reserves of his Brunello.
