The award-winning Bertagnolli Distillery is located on the slopes of the Brenta Dolomites - UNESCO World Heritage Site, nestled among the vineyards of the Piana Rotaliana, a land described by Goethe as "the most beautiful vineyard in Europe", suited for viticulture thanks to a great variety of historically recognized terroir, and home to excellent wines and excellent grappa. Since 1870, Bertagnolli is the oldest family distillery in Trentino: its foundation dates back to when the noblewoman Giulia de Kreutzenberg, wealthy landowner of the Austro-Hungarian Empire and lady of one of the largest farms of the Rotaliana Plain, contracted marriage with a director of the Bolzano Cotton mills, the scholar Edoardo Bertagnolli, descendant of a family of pharmacists. From this union between prosperity and culture, alchemy and viticulture, the Bertagnolli dynasty "grappaioli" was born. In a short time Bertagnolli ranked among the prestigious companies of the time, becoming supplier of the Habsburg Imperial House in 1886, and collecting prestigious international awards - the oldest medal dates back to 1872. The precious inheritance of the ancestors was subsequently collected by the descendants who, with unchanged passion, competence and constant innovative spirit, continued to lead this historic Distillery which, through the use of discontinuous copper bain-marie stills fed by steam, has always specialized in production of Trentino grappas and distillates, certified and awarded to the most authoritative international competitions thanks to their unmistakable quality.
