Basadone by Castello di Verduno is a 100% Pelaverga produced in Piedmont. It shows a brilliant ruby red color and an intense and fruity aroma, notes of spirited cherries accompany in a pleasant aftertaste of black pepper and nutmeg. The taste is delicate thanks to silky tannins, it also has an excellent balance and refreshing acidity

Between past and present

There is a lot of history inside the company "Castello di Verduno" which today is owned by Gabriella Burlotto and Franco Bianco. The great history, that of the Savoy and King Carlo Alberto, and the small history of the Burlotto and Bianco families, who have woven themselves around a single great passion for the noblest of vines: Nebbiolo. After fifteen years spent in Eritrea, in 1950 Commendatore Giovanni Battista Burlotto returned to Verduno and decided to create a meeting point with the possibility of a stay. Now the three daughters of the Commendatore and their families dedicate their time with passion to what is now the Castello di Verduno: hotel, restaurant, wine cellar and agriturismo.


The vines are thoughtfully followed by Franco's watchful eye. Every vine is taken care of, from pruning to harvest, with the aim of obtaining the optimum quantity of product to achieve high fruit quality standards in the physiological respect of the plant. Vinification can be defined as traditional, especially for Barolo and Barbaresco, with fermentation in an open vat and a long aging in large oak barrels in the barbaresco cellar. The production process is followed with commitment and passion by the young winemaker Mario Andrion who, starting from the precious teachings of Franco, has brought new knowledge managing to integrate the consolidated techniques of the Langhe with small but significant innovations. In recent years new forces have been added to the company, those of the daughters of Franco, Marcella and Giovanna. All collaborators work with a minimum intervention level, through a slow, patient and careful care of the fruit.
