The company

«Wine must be the perfect copy of its Terroir»

SERRALUNGA
For over 100 years the Rosso family has owned the crus: Cerretta, La Serra, Broglio, Meriame, Sorano, Costa bella, Lirano and Damiano. At the beginning of the '80s, Giovanni Rosso restructured most of the vineyards with very modern plant layouts, able to produce only high quality grapes.

In 2001 at the age of 27, his son Davide, an enologist and with important experiences, decided to personally take care of the vinification and the eighties of wines with a single objective: "The wine must be the perfect copy of his Terroir". The land is the "magic" one of Serralunga d'Alba, one of the best in the world.

ETNA
For years Giovanni Rosso was looking for a new terroir where he could get involved.

The parallel project was officially born in May 2016 with the purchase of the Etna estate in the village of Solicchiata di Castiglione di Sicilia. The company is located a few kilometers before Passopisciaro at the foot of Montedolce, a small extinct crater that gives its name to the Contrada. This is the north-eastern slope of the volcano, an area particularly suited for the production of red wines. The new estates extend for fourteen hectares in a single plot; currently the area occupied by the vineyards is just over six and a half hectares, 1.2ha to white berry and 5.5ha to black berry, carricante the first, nerello mascalese the second, with small percentages of other native varieties (as the local tradition wants). The type of plant has been renamed "a candelabrum", it is about trees of the middle age of forty years developed two-dimensional to give life to rows; the average altitude is 750m s.l.m.

Soon the ancient millstone that dominates the entrance of the estate will be renovated and in all likelihood new vines will be planted in the higher part of the property in the next few years. The soil is entirely composed of lava sand, the plants are grown organically; the microclimate is unique in the world and once again the goal is to produce wines able to tell the terroir with great style and elegance.
