Description
Barolo Pio Cesare is a wine with a classic style, elegant and full bodied ... structured and harmonious, with soft and delicate tannins combined with the right fruit, mellow and austere. Of very long life. Barolo is a wine that in no way should be called "base". It is a great wine and it is not right to give this name just because it is not indicated on the label, vineyard or sub-area.

HISTORY AND COMPANY

The Pio Cesare winery boasts, with its glorious and secular history, important primates that make it one of the most famous and important productive realities of the Langhe. It was founded in Alba in 1881 by the entrepreneur Cesare Pio, a great wine lover and pioneer of values such as those of quality and stylistic originality. At the beginning of the twentieth century his brand was already known throughout Europe, becoming a reference for Piedmontese wine in the world. A reputation and prestige on the national and international market that continued first under the guidance of Rosy Pio and her husband Giuseppe Boffa and, today, under that of their son Pio Boffa. It currently exports to over 50 countries and is one of the most famous and important Italian wineries, known as much by the general public as by fans. The heritage of vineyards covers a total of 70 hectares between the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco and boasts particularly suitable plots, such as the Bricco di Treiso vineyard and the Ornato in Serralunga d’Alba, together with many important cru. Each of these vineyards is included in the list of Additional Geographical Mentions of the specifications of Barolo and Barbaresco. The winery, located in the historic center of Alba, is built on 4 floors below the level of the Tanaro river and, besides representing the ideal environment for wine production, aging and preservation, it is also an important piece of history. It was in fact excavated and built in the 18th century and is bounded by the ancient Roman walls of Alba Pompeia. In this very suggestive historical context the wines are produced according to the classic and traditional practice of blending together the characteristics of the vineyards, instead of making wine separately for cru. This was done in the nineteenth century and this has remained the productive mode of the family. Faithfulness to a classic style, consistent quality and great care in the vineyard and in the cellar characterize the entire production. Pio Cesare wines are an important historical witness and an example of quality and prestige that still makes today. They represent the history and tradition of the Langhe, but also their future and their success in Italy and in the world
