Description
The grapes destined for the production of this wine come from vineyards capable of ensuring a wide structure of wine rich in trace elements and providing it with a vigorous but balanced character and guaranteeing a wide expression of the bouquet. The color is intense garnet red with ruby nuances. The scent is intense and persistent with a distinct hint of spice, cinnamon, absinthe, tobacco and raspberry. The taste is full and elegant, with wrap-around and soft tannins. Pleasant are the spicy and boisé that blend perfectly.

Aging of wine
Made from vitrified concrete, specially made with cork insulation, the wine keeps the post-fermentation temperature of about 22 °. In this way malolactic fermentation starts and ends spontaneously in a short time. The wine is first aged in small oak barrels, then it is assembled into traditional Slavonian oak barrels of large size that contribute to making it harmonious and balanced, enhancing the bouquet's refinement. Prior to being put on the market, its aging in bottle for a few months. Barolo reaches maturity after 4 years of harvest and the ripeness plateau is between 4 and 20 years

HISTORY

In the heart of the Langhe, protected by gentle hills, is the winery of the Marquises of Barolo, whose history dates back to 1807, the year in which Carlo Tancredi Falletti married the French noblewoman Juliette Colbert of Maulévrier. The latter was the first that understood the potential of the Nebbiolo grape which, if well vinified and long refined in wood, offers powerful and austere wines, able to last and evolve over time. Detected at the end of the nineteenth century by Pietro Abbona, the estate, currently managed by the grandson of Pietro himself, Ernesto Abbona, can count on an immense legacy of about 65 hectares, from which great quality wines are born, destined to enrich season after season the story of a large cellar. Taking advantage of the favorable microclimatic conditions and the exceptional peculiarities of the territory, extraordinarily aromatic, pure and concentrated grapes are grown and harvested, which in the cellar are best interpreted by the now historical human experience. This is how labels with an unmistakable style come to life, strictly faithful to the terroir of belonging, wonderful interpreters of the diversity of the places and the typicality of the native vines.
