HISTORY AND COMPANY
Pierre Frick was an undisputed pioneer of the naturalist philosophy: a forerunner of the times, he embraced biological methods as early as 1970, devoting himself completely to biodynamics in 1981, with Demeter certification. The Domaine has a history spanning twelve generations of vignerons-récoltants and has its roots in the village of Pfaffenheim, a village nestled in the Alsace Haut-Rhin area, south of the city of Colmar. Today the Domaine is run by Jean-Pierre Frick, along with his wife Chantal, and flanked by his son Thomas. The 12 hectares of owned vineyards are spread over 12 plots, of which 3 are Grand Cru: Steinert in the municipality of Pfaffenheim, Vorbourg in Rouffach and Eichberg in the village of Eguisheim. Very low yields, manual harvest, recourse to indigenous yeasts only, no chemical or physical treatment, insignificant use of sulfur dioxide, however never added before fermentation, but always and only during bottling. Since 1999, the Domaine has also been processing bottled cuvées without any addition of sulphites and since 2002 Jean-Pierre has replaced the cork with stainless steel capsules in order to better protect the organoleptic characteristics and better ensuring a good maturation over time.
