Description

Aka by Produttori Vini Manduria is a IGP rosé wine produced in Puglia. "Aka" is a rare Japanese coral characterized by a deep red color, difficult to work; if engraved with mastery it gives jewels of rare beauty and priceless value. Like this precious coral, the Primitivo is a variety that is anything but easy to vinify in rosé, due to the intense color of the grape, but if skillfully cared for, from the vineyard to the bottle, it is able to offer unique emotions

HISTORY AND COMPANY

The love and dedication that the winery has always shown towards viticulture, oenology and the territory, today raises us as champions of this extraordinary nectar that is Primitivo wine. The history of our cooperative is closely related to this grape variety. The adventure of the winery, began in 1928 when, a small group of "enlightened" winemakers taking over an old factory, created the "Federation of Wines", a producer association that four years later, on 9 July 1932, will officially formalize the its legal form of cooperative with the establishment of the "Consorzio Produttori Vini Superiore and Red Musts for cutting in the Manduria area". The fate of the company is inextricably intertwined with those of the main product of the territory, the "Primitivo di Manduria", a wine first relegated to the low rank of wine for improvement, that is destined to strengthen the noble French and northern Italian labels, then mistreated and humiliated during the dark years of methanol and finally resurrected when around the mid-1990s it was decided to change course by focusing on the quality and added value of the bottle. And so, today, convinced that good wine is still born in the fields, it has succeeded in circumscribing the productive base and, thanks to the support of an agronomist, to better follow the work of our members by ensuring that healthy grapes are produced each year. and with superior organoleptic qualities. Today the Cantina Produttori di Manduria has 1000 hectares of vineyard, half of which is still grown with the traditional sapling system and strongly defends the work of 400 small wine artisans, the only ones able to boast the title of Maestri in Primitivo. Added to the heritage of a strong tradition were the research projects launched by the CNR and the University of Bari, the rigorous respect of the production disciplinary of the "Primitivo di Manduria" Doc combined with a strong attention to the environment and the hygiene with Iso 9001, Iso 14001 and IFS BRC. But like any self-respecting great wine, even the Primitivo di Manduria doc needed to be told, lived, celebrated, essentially of a precise, unmistakable identity and it is on this point that the winery has invested resources and energy making it its winning weapon . Moreover, what link can be considered stronger than that existing between a wine and the land from which it comes? This led to the preparation, in the oldest wing and in the underground cisterns of the Cantina of a rich Museum of ethnographic and documentary importance regarding the millennial relationship between the people of Manduria and the art of making wine, also from 2003 to edit a “Alceo salentino” magazine which dealing in a varied and innovative way with themes of wine culture and territory has been able to soon win the favor of a wide public.
